Iran hopes for resolving the issue regarding the legal status of the Caspian Sea as soon as possible, Iranian news agency SHANA quotes the country's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast as telling journalists on Tuesday.

The Caspian littoral countries reached agreement on 70 percent of issues associated with the legal status of the Caspian Sea, Mehmanparast said.

"We hope that other issues will be resolved soon as well," he said.
